Brown Quail and Galahs in the late afternoon light

Saw a couple of Brown Quails by the side of the road near Alpurrurulam late in the afternoon. One ran away but the other hung around long enough for a few photos.

And these Galahs were on a drinking trough near the windmill on the road to Austral Downs Station:

Happy Birding!

  2. Great shots Rich. Nicest galah images i've seen for a bit, especially the wing spread and crest raised 1st one.
The quail shots are great too. It takes me back to an early photo long time ago of an unidentified quail like bird taken with a short lens just before this birding crusade began! Do you remember it?
I reckon it may have been a brown quail!

    1. Hi Pete, have thought a fair bit about that encounter and have come to the same conclusion.
