I have seen Zebra Finches dunk and splash, but this was my first experience of a Crimson finch having a great time dunking and shaking in a drain puddle at East Point, Darwin.

Birds of Darwin - Buffalo Creek and Lee Point bird photos
The birdlife in Darwin seems to be amazing every time I come here. This trip has been no exception. I have had a couple of sessions around the foreshore and beaches and the below are some of the photos. Hope you enjoy.

Went to the Darwin's Wharf Precinct and Cullen Bay today. Saw the Brahminy Kite at the Wharf Precinct, the Radjah Shelduck at Cullen Bay. Hope you enjoy the photos.

Finches and Mannikans, photos and a few words
Over the past week I have been spoilt with the number and photographic opportunities of Finches and Mannikans. I love the Zebra Finches in Central Australia, but to see the colour and personalities on show of the top end birds is such a treat.
Crimson, Masked, Long-tailed and Double-barred Finches, and then the Chestnut-breasted Mannikan in Kakadu and now in Darwin is just awesome. The Crimson, Masked and Long-tailed Finches were not as friendly as the latter two, but still the "zzzz" they make always gets the heart-rate up as I know they are around somewhere, and finding out which variety is exciting.
The first group are the two from Darwin:
