Singing Honeyeater

Cockatiel

Channel-billed Cuckoo

Crested Pigeon

Yellow-throated Miner

Black Kite

Definitely one of the enjoyable experiences of living in Alice Springs is the abundance of birds of prey, especially the Black Kites. I have counted 26 in a single tree near the Alice Springs Water Treatment Plant, colloquially known as the "Poo Ponds". Here are just some of the photos I have managed to capture:

Masked Lapwing

The noisy one. Constant chatter. Bizarre facial droopy bits!

Black-faced Cuckoo Shrike

I have loved these birds after listening to the "Sandman", Steve Abbott, talk about how they fold their wings 4 times after they settle on a branch. As we have these visit the trees around the backyard, I made sure I watched and sure enough, they do settle their wings 4 times, not 3, not 5, but 4.

Splendid Fairy-wren

One of my favourite birds. They are so inquisitive.
Stay patient and they will come and check you out.

Zebra Finch

Little Zeb, inquisitive, friendly, chatty, and normally in numbers. First noticed these in WA in 2010, and as they allow photographers to get close enough for some clear photos, I love hearing them and seeing them. Very social little bird.
