Decided to head out early this morning and checked out the local poo ponds. Always a pleasure to go to such exotic locations for bird watching! Was very happy small flocks of budgies became bigger ones and then a largish one, probably around 200, not the thousands of a few years ago but still lovely to watch and hear a flock of wild budgerigars.
Budgerigars
that's a sight I hope to witness for myself some day too Richard; wonderful photo opportunity for you
ReplyDeleteThanks Carole, I do feel very lucky to be able to see Budgerigars as I do
DeleteGreat images, would love to see these, superb flight shots.
ReplyDeleteJohn.
Thanks John, equipment and co-operative subjects certainly help. I hope you see them one day too, they are amazing.
DeleteLove the trio doing a bit of formation flying "a la" The Roulettes
ReplyDeleteThanks Pete, couldn't believe they didn't wingtip each other, probably not as fatal as if the roulettes did the same thing!
DeleteWe are planning a trip to the centre next year and flocks of budgies are high on the bird photography wish list. Great shots Richard :-)
ReplyDeleteIan, happy to give tips closer to the time. Apparently the majority are in Central Queensland now. Depends very much on how much rain we get between now and about 6 weeks before you travel. Lots of rain in the Centre, lots of Budgies. Hope it rains for both our sakes. e-mail me closer to the time at rjwaring@richardwaring.com.au
DeleteGreat spectacle I would love to see.
