Although it hasn't rained in Central Australia for a number of months now, the Budgerigars are still in good numbers around Alice Springs and further afield. A drive up to Willowra last week saw a number of flocks in their tens to 50s, one or two larger ones than that. Over the weekend, Budgerigars still filled the air around Alice Springs, from sunrise to sunset and they could be heard as late as 11 pm. A drive out to Kintore today saw far fewer flocks, but considering the lack of waterholes out this way, even seeing some flocks was a little surprising.
