I was out at Simpsons Gap a little while ago and took these photos in the BBQ area down near the Gap itself. All three varieties were very friendly and seemed quite oblivious to my presence. Hope you enjoy the photos:
Yellow-rumped Thornbills
Splendid Fairy-wren
Red-capped Robin - adult
Red-capped Robin - juvenile
Enjoy your Bird-watching!
I've never seen the thornbill onthe ground like you did; I love those birds ..and your red-capped robin pics are fabulous Richard
ReplyDeleteThanks Carole. They were busy in the shrubs as well and chattering away to one another. Delightful little birds
DeleteNice ones Rich, haven't been this close to any of these guys! Are you sure you took me to the best fairy-wren spots!?
ReplyDeleteI reckon the YRTs down south look less slender than these guys. Ours seem more compact and more ....well ... "thornbillier"! Perhaps I'm used to seeing them puffed & fluffed in the cold!
BTW - just had a great family night watching DVD of USA movie "The Big Year". Have you seen it?
Thanks Pete, yes seen video, not quite what I was expecting but enjoyed the woodpecker. Had comments before about YRT down south being a duller yellow. All 3 were ver6 accommodating, been to the same spot a few times this year and have had great viewing of one or other species but not like this, had to lean back and bring the zoom back for all 3.
DeleteBrilliant shots Richard, Fairy Wrens are just stunning birds :-)
ReplyDeletePreciosas aves y unas muy buenas capturas.Saludos
