Ewaninga Reserve

Went out to Ewaninga Reserve with my youngest son, Moses, yesterday afternoon. He is a great companion and takes his video camera when we go specifically to bird watch. His video of a Torresian Crow flying across onto one of the rocky outcrops can be found here.

There were a few large flocks of birds, namely Masked Woodswallows and Budgerigars, but surprisingly, very few birds overall, and even though we were there for only an hour or so, neither of us heard or saw a single fairy wren at the Reserve.

A nice surprise was this Grey Butcherbird, which flew into one of the trees near the carpark:

This dingo was fairly complacent about our presence, but we enjoyed watching it stroll around.

Masked Woodswallows were in large flocks at times, this one was trying to catch up.

  1. Great post!
Watching a free dingo never happened to me!!
I had to visit a zoo to see one! LOL!
I love the last pic with the sun hitting the rock turning into fiery orange!
    Keep well, cheers Richard!
