With the end of the rains (for now) comes the feasting by creatures great and small. Came across this Long-tailed Sand Dragon (I think, am happy to be corrected) having some lunch, on a dragonfly!
The birds of prey were mainly somewhere else, but this Nankeen kestrel was sitting in a tree by the side of the road and for once didn't fly off at the sight of the stranger from the metal thing on the grey/black ground:
Also saw a lot of Budgerigars (heard hundreds more) and took a few shots of the ones that were closer than most:
The Zebra Finches are having a great time with all this rain and they are a constant chirp around and just outside of Alice Springs (as well as lots of other places in central Australia I would think).

A Willie Wagtail decided to pose atop a rock for me, always enjoy birds that not only appear, but stay long enough for a photo:
and finally for this post, a Spiny-cheeked Honeyeater that flew into a tree above me, showing off those strange markings on its front, but turning its head just enough to display that beautiful pink lining along its beak:
